the tech

our software setup

we use 1280x720 MP4 video, 30fps, and approx 10kbps bitrate-- and currently use streamlabs to broadcast a VLC playlist to twitch.

we operate via twitter and discord
+ we do our own inhouse production

the playlist

what makes up the show?

typical production looks like:

marquee loop (aka slop loop)
light sensitivity warning
intro to the show video
artist intro [aka blurbs]
artist set [artist submits]
< more artist sets >
intermission [we do 7+min]
artist intro[etc]
artist set[etc]
< more artist sets >
outro to the show video
credits and thank-yous

what to know

artist info blurbs should go before all artist sets, doesnt have to be fancy just list the artist name/links. crediting everyone again at the end is also a good call to get more followers to the artist

extras

if possible, pepper in little bits of stuff between the sets, and you should mention your next event while you have people's attention. we try to do it during the intro and outro

the clips

blurbs

length should be closer to 30 to 35 seconds or more. better go longer versus shorter so that onscreen text is understandable by the viewer.
your job here is to stylishly convey the artist credits & links
we add the name [REAL BIG], then we fit the twitter link, a bandcamp link, and extra/www links and we list any other other visual artist that might have contributed to the set. doesnt have to be fancy

credits

credits: we're mentioning the artists again, the staff, and any additional support or shoutouts. imho its better to add it than not credit someone. again doesnt have to be a masterwork just has to be legible.

slop loop

short clip to loop while you wait to open the doors

intro

welcome to the show, say any info, possibly mention artists

light warning

if your show needs it, add a light sensitivity/seizure warning to the start of your show. go with MAXIMUM VISIBILITY over style. if possible, have the text on a black / non-moving background, want this to be VISIBLE
we go with no sound for our light warning

intermission

give people a short break somewhere in the middle if your show goes more than 90min-2hrs. definitely if your show is 3hr+. we do around 7-8min

extra clips

you might spice up the set transitions with little clips here and there, but this is optional

outro

use this time to say thanks to everyone for coming out and being part of the show, let them know to follow the artists and mention the next show

closing
